Renee Zellwegger X2

The many faces of Renee.

Kittens, it's a subdued morning around here. The skies over T Lo Manor are overcast for the 3rd day in a row, and we are fighting the springtime blues that come with not enough sun. But thankfully, there are always celebrities leaving the house looking less than flawless. Let's all take a moment and silently thank them for giving us all something to talk about while we go through our day.

Thank you, celebrities.

Now. Let's go rip some dresses.

This is a thing now, isn't it? Trench coats worn as dresses. Oh sure, maybe she's got something on under there, but it's pretty tightly closed, with a virtual "NO ENTRY" sign hanging over it. Besides, if she had a dress on, she'd be pretty much required to open her coat and show it off. Granted, there is something peeking out from under the hem, so she's not naked under there, but the coat itself is obviously meant to be the star attraction.

Not that we're complaining about trenchcoat dresses. We think they can be quite chic. It's just that the red carpet is somewhat similar to, say, that stretch of lockers reserved for the juniors and seniors. If one popular kid shows up with orange shoelaces, they'll all be wearing them within a week. Expect to see a lot of lady flashers on the red carpet in the next couple months.

Putting aside the discussion of the narrow world of red carpet styling, we think she looks really cute and sporty here. Love the bag and shoes; the lack of color in the accessories works with that focus-pulling red. We also, somewhat strangely, really like her hair here. It's too Zellwegger-tight (which is a highly descriptive phrase we just coined on the spot), but something about the uneven part and sideswept bangs looks cute on her. Her face is too shiny, though.

Moving on to Look #2:

There's the Renee we all know and love. A skin-baring dress in a dicey color offering up the patented Zellwegger look of severity, hardness, and lack of personality. She looks so cute and sassy up there in her little red trench, but here she looks scary and a bit pissed off. The hair that looked so cute with the trench reverts back to "Zellwegger tight" with this look, even if it's pretty much the exact same hairstyle.

There's nothing horribly wrong here. It's a nice enough dress and the shoes and bag are well-chosen. It's just that we don't think this look suits her. The irony being that this look is how she most often goes out.
